A Note from Gill

For as long as I can remember, getting dressed has been a series of negotiations.

Negotiating with a sleeve that’s too long, a waistline that sits too low, or a “midi” dress that’s accidentally a gown. At 151cm, I spent years feeling like I was playing dress-up in clothes made for someone else.

I started On A Good Day because I believe that being “short” isn’t a problem to be solved - it’s something to be considered, celebrated and designed for.

The Design, The Details

Most fashion is designed for a 178cm (5’8”) fit model. For those of us 160cm and under, that means a lifetime of “making it work” - rolling up sleeves, shopping from the kids’ section, or paying the “short tax” at the tailor.

On A Good Day was born because we can do better for short women. We are building a label that honours the short frame without compromise. We don’t just shorten hemlines; we rethink proportions, drapes, and silhouettes to ensure the clothes fit the woman, not the other way around.

Why read the Journal?

This Substack is an extension of our practice in Sydney. It’s where we go deeper than a product page allows. By subscribing, you’re joining a community of women who value everyday classics that finally fit.

What to expect in your inbox:

  • Design Diaries: A transparent look at garment construction, fabric sourcing, and honest reflections on the reality of building an independent label.

  • Fit Notes: Practical advice on styling the short frame and understanding proportions.

  • Early Access: Our subscribers are always the first to see new sketches and the first to shop new collections.

Join the Journey

You won’t find ads or fast-fashion noise here. This is a space for slow, intentional conversation about the clothes we wear and how they make us feel, with day-to-day reflections on building a brand and a business thrown into the mix.

Every day is better when your clothes actually fit. We’re here to make sure you have more of those days.
